The Prime minister of India is head of the Council of Ministers which is the decision making body for India. So that Prime minister of India is known as “Chief executive of the government of India”. There have been 14 Prime Ministers since Indian independence.

4. Morarji Desai was the only Prime Minister of India who got the highest civilian award of India “Bharat Ratna Award” and the highest civilian award of Pakistan “Nishan-E-Pakistan”.
5. Rajiv Gandhi was the youngest Prime Minister of India.

3. Indira Gandhi started the “Green Revolution” for self-sufficient in crop production and the Nationalisation of Indian Banks. Emergency declared during their reign. “Operation Blue Star was started during their reign. Indira Gandhi was the first woman who received the Bharat Ratna Award. She was the person who became Prime Minister as a member of Rajya Sabha. Indira Gandhi gave the slogan “ Garibi Hatao” in 1971 and imposed maximum times President rules in India.
4. Rajiv Gandhi was well known for revolutionary changes in the IT sector(Information technology). He introduced financial reforms and Anti Defection law. During his tenure, he gave the slogan “ Bikari Hatao”.
5. V.P. Singh: He implemented the Mandal Commission report for India’s backward castes. He also formed the Interstate council in 1990 to maintain better relationships between states.
6. P.V. Narsingha Rao: He was the first south Indian who served India as a Prime Minister. He introduced many financial reforms for the economic development of India. He referred to “ Father of Indian Economic Reforms”.
