Himachal Pradesh State

Himachal Pradesh is a beautiful and attractive state, nestled in the lap of the Himalayas. Himachal Pradesh means “ Him ka Aanchal” or “snowfall province”. It is situated in a part of the western Himalayas in Northern India.

Himachal Pradesh was founded on 25 January 1971. It separated from Punjab on the basis of language. The state covers 55673 square km and gets 17th position in area wise in India.

 Himachal Pradesh is a mountain state which is situated in foothills of the Dhauladhar range of Western Himalayas. Many rivers originated and flowed through states such as Beas and Ravi rivers etc. The drainage system of Himachal Pradesh consists of many rivers and glaciers such as Sutlej, Beas, Ravi, and  Yamuna, etc.

1.       Shimla Division: Kinnaur, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur districts

2.       Mandi division: Bilaspur,  Hamirpur, Kullu and Lahaul districts

3.       Kangra Division: Chamba, Kangra, and Una districts

 In Himachal Pradesh consists of a parliamentary democratic system. The State consists of Unicameral legislative assembly and allotted 68 seats.

Fauna and Flora in Himachal Pradesh:

 66.52% of Himachal Pradesh covers by forest and the rest of it is meadows, cold deserts, and pastures. Many types of flora and fauna found in Himachal Pradesh and lie Indian Himalayan region(IHR).  Himachal Pradesh is very rich in biodiversity. Many endangered medical plants are found here.

Snow Leopard, Himalayan Yak, Himalayan Bear, Western Tragopan Bird( king among bird), Monal( famous for its bright Plumage), Musk deer, and Golden Mahseer( world-famous game fish).

The economy of Himachal Pradesh

The state economy mainly depends upon agriculture, energy, tourism, and industries.  It stands in the 22nd position on the basis of GDP and 13th Position on the basis of per capita income on the economy in Indian states.

A. Agriculture:

Main Crops: Wheat, Rice, Maize, and Barley. 

Cash crops: Apple and Oilseeds 

Dependency: 90% of the total population and 62% of the total workforce.
